Intercom is a live chat widget that has one really unique quality…..
It can’t be tracked in Google Analytics, it can’t even be tracked using Google Tag Manager, partly because it sits in an iframe.
…….when I asked Intercom tech support why it wasn’t possible to track in Google Analytics, their reply was:
Why would you want to do that?
Err……to see which marketing channels and campaigns are driving live chats.
Imagine my predicament when I recommended it to a client on the basis that I’d seen it on a few sites and it appeared to work quite well (note to self – never do that again). As a live chat platform, it’s fine but it has no Google Analytics integration at all and they have made it very difficult to track…
